Black rhinoceroses are critically endangered animals native to Africa. These massive herbivores can weigh up to 3,000 pounds and are known for their two horns and thick, gray skin. Despite their name, black rhinos are actually dark gray in color. They are solitary creatures that spend most of their time grazing on leaves, branches, and fruits. Black rhinos have poor eyesight but excellent senses of smell and hearing. Sadly, their population has declined dramatically due to poaching for their horns, which are valued in traditional medicine. Conservation efforts are underway across Africa to protect these magnificent animals and ensure their survival for future generations.
